The Purchase of Alaska

  In this political cartoon, the issue is on the Purchase of Alaska. The author seems to be telling us that Alaska is just a big piece of land that we wasted 7 million dollars on because that big rock they are carting is actually Alaska (I`ll get more into that later) and there is no gold, diamonds, it`s just a big rock. Many people will most likely agree that this is true because of it all represents. There are some techniques used in this political cartoon, one is symbolism, for example, like I said before, that big rock is Alaska. So the reason I say this is Russian America basically means Alaska because Alaska originally came from Russia and then America bought it. This political cartoon also shows labeling because the wagon says treaty and the big rock says Russian America. So this political cartoon does support American imperialism.
