The Open Door Policy

This political cartoon set its thought in the Open Door Policy. The message is the U.S was the only one allowed to trade with China. The reason I say that is because Uncle Sam has a brick in his hand. That brick stand for the U.S military and that military (brick) would stop other people from entering. Another opinion is that the brick is actually a offer to trade with China, we protect you and we access your markets. Some techniques used in this are exaggeration and labeling. The reason I say exaggeration because Uncle Sam is big, even crouched, he is taller than the person beside him. The reason I say labeling is because the door, brick, the house in the back says the thing they represent. So I believe this does support American Imperialism because they are extending their markets.
